In what was a hugely uplifting night with the most amazing musical talent, Battle Batten raised (early indications)! £25,250!!!!! OMG folks – never did we imagine! For those who couldn’t join us, here’s the pre-ball video that certainly got everyone in the mood!! Thanks xxxx
We finally did it!
After months – nay years – of being asked to do another ball after the success in November 2014, we’re doing it all again in November 2017!
Organising a ball isn’t the easiest of tasks – but when we think about the atmosphere at the last, and how much people have helped us both fundraise and emotionally support us in the last few years, we thought hell yeah! Lets celebrate.
So on the 18th November at Goosedale in Papplewick, we are hosting another ball. We have just weeks to pull this together but know we will get 400 people there with the interest we’ve already had. If you want to join us, the flyer is here and you can book here
We’re always looking for sponsors and prizes so please feel free to get in touch – there’s no pressure, no bargaining, we’re just grateful for whatever you can do. Its musical. Its celebratory. Its fun. And it’s just before Christmas so if you’re not booked up with your Xmas do yet – always a good option! It £450 for a table of 10.
Look forward to seeing you there.
The ball last time! (Thanks to the wonderful Mark Walker)
Freddie and Louie were surrounded by friends and family in their home as they celebrated their tenth birthday on Saturday 19th September 2015.
Parents Sarah and Andrew were overwhelmed by the thoughtful presents and gifts from friends and family as Connor Spray, local musician arrived for a personal performance with Freddie and Louie
It was a delight to watch as Freddie and Louie rocked and banged to the music from Wonderwall to original tracks written by Connor himself.
“Music has been the absolute stimulator for both Freddie and Louie since they lost their sight seven years ago. We do everything to introduce Freddie and Louie to music throughout their life so to have a personal rendition in our own living room on their tenth birthday means everything to us,” said mum Sarah.
MP Mark Spencer and fundraising dad to cycle 56 miles pushing local Battle Batten campaign towards £100,000 fundraising mark.
Mark Spencer MP will ride the borders of his constituency on Sunday 12th September to support ‘Battle Batten’ as we nudge closer to the £100,000 fundraising mark.
In the latest fundraising effort, MP and pal of the family, Mr Spencer has volunteered his Sunday morning to ride alongside dad Andrew, in a bid to raise cash and awareness of the rare condition, for which there is no cure.
Mr Spencer said: “I’ve known Andrew for a while and what his family have done in terms of fundraising, for the sake of their boys and to give them the best life possible but also for other children across the UK with this condition, is really inspiring. Their dedication is incredible.
“That’s why when Andrew’s asked me if there was any way I could help I wanted to show my support, and I’ve put this ride together.
“I hope that it will encourage people to donate, and to look at their website to find out more about what they can do to help.”
Sunday’s ride will take Andrew and Mr Spencer, along with other friends and volunteers, on a route from the MP’s home in Lambley all the way around the borders of the constituency, taking in Bestwood Village, Hucknall, Ravenshead, Blidworth, Rainworth, Clipstone and Edwinstowe on the route up to Thoresby Hall, before they head back home through Ollerton, Eakring, Kirklington, Edingley and Woodborough.
Andrew’s said: “We are really grateful to Mark and his team for organising this event which is all the more poignant as it coincides with the week that Freddie and Louie reach their tenth birthday.”

Last week, we were fortunate enough to host our ‘Run a Pub’ fundraiser at The Somers Town Coffee House in Euston. The winning bid for the prize, auctioned on ebay, came from Lizzie Wills, who took up her post as Guv’nor for the day at the Yummy Pub Co site on 5th March.
